Patrick Maguire is a gray-haired father of two who likes to speak in the third person. When not developing new hobbies, like harassing the people who inadvertently email him, he blesses a very lucky wife with his presence. Family time is spent exercising, camping, playing, watching hours and hours of PBS Kids, learning how to braid hair, and officiating tantrums. The youngest of three siblings, Patrick was surrounded by a brother, sister, and two parents who all had a great (but slightly 'off') sense of humor growing up. Add in 15 years of working in law enforcement and he now has what some would describe as a 'dark' sense of humor while others may find it to be bitingly sarcastic. Regardless of outside opinions, Patrick's wife is not impressed. Often the target of said humor, she exercises great patience and encourages him to find creative new outlets.

And that is what gets us here. Over the years, Patrick has always been a fan of writing. In high school, he took an interest in creative writing. In college, he tried to use it as a crutch to get him through times when he may not have studied as much as he should have. If he didn't know the subject matter, he would try to work around that by creatively filling in gaps with (what he thought was) savvy writing. While he certainly never made any honor rolls, he graduated from Michigan State University. Although he got a Bachelor of Arts, he could just as easily have received a B.S. Though he has written extensively in his job in law enforcement, police reports don't really lend themselves to sarcastic wit, editorializing, or being creative with the facts. His bosses told him that several times. So instead, his supportive wife suggested he try blogging to have an outlet for his writing.

While he hopes to eventually have lots of posts here about a variety of things, he has also included some nonsense from the last few years. These include email conversations gone wrong, craigslist ads, and maybe even a few Christmas letters. He really hopes you enjoy. He also hopes to begin talking in the first person from now on.
